Chapter 1 The disguise

If Luciana had known that disguising herself as the princess of Florendel to marry the prince of Zubrekadech would be this easy, she wouldn't have wasted her time and energy on all those elaborate plans.

Okay let's go through the details, she traveled from her country to Florendel and had to give up her family's most prized heirloom, other valuable items, and a very convincing long speech before the king of Florendel agreed to adopt her as his daughter to replace his daughter who was to marry the prince of Zubrekadech, and for clarity sake, the princess was not willing to sacrifice her happiness for the peace alliance.

And no one could blame her though, the prince was feared among the people. You could scare children with the stories about the prince, you could only describe him with one word. He was the devil himself.

Even Luciana herself was only fueled by her quest for vengeance.

After losing her family because of the ruthless prince, she vowed to kill the prince to avenge her parents so that they could rest in peace, and her dream was about to come through, and it seemed the heavens were even helping her.

"My lady, please the prince sends his apologies, we are to escort you to your chambers." A palace maid who looked like the head maid led the way to the said chambers.

Luciana could not believe this divine intervention, even though her sources told her the prince had never met the princess of Florendel, she was still apprehensive about being found out that she was a fake during the wedding ceremony.

But the prince did not even come to his own wedding and Luciana could not have prayed for a better outcome.

Now she just had to wait for the prince to enter her chambers tonight to consummate the marriage and her dagger will go straight into his heart.

"My lady, my name is Samira, the head maid, this is Dora and Ella. They will be your personal maids and will prepare you for tonight," The head maid said, gesturing to two girls who came forward and gave a bow.

Luciana was hardly paying attention, besides after killing the prince, what would she do with knowing the names of the maids?

"Okay," Luciana nodded absent mindedly. The maids got to work and started removing her jewelry and accessories which she was thankful for, because they were heavy and making her uncomfortable.

After taking off the jewelry and her clothes they prepared her bath with essential oils. After her bath, they rubbed fragrant body oils on her body, gave her delicate care, and put her in a lace nightgown which was clearly very revealing and left people to their imagination.

The maid then brought a bowl containing some liquid and offered.

"My lady, pls drink this, it will help with the pain." Luciana looked at them not understanding them until it dawned on her, they were talking about the consummation.

Well from the rumors about the prince, he would not be a gentle person, not like her Nick, he was gentle and kind, the perfect man.

"Hold it, Luciana, no distractions! You must focus on the task ahead" Luciana scolded herself mentally and drank the liquid, it looked like the maid would not leave if she didn't drink it.

After that, they left her alone in the chambers.

She opened her luggage and took out her dagger. She smirked, taking out a little bottle, it contained a form of sleeping drug and was very potent, a few drops could knock out even an elephant.

She poured some of its contents into the wine that was set up for the prince and herself.

'If the prince is drugged, her work would be even easier' Luciana thought pleased with herself. She returned to the bed clutching her dagger and waiting for the prince's arrival and her thoughts wandered again distracted by everything that was happening.

She never imagined getting married for revenge, even though Nick was just a soldier and she was a princess and knew it might not be possible between them, she had imagined her wedding night with him countless times.

She knew he treasured her. He had asked about her identity several times but she kept delaying it for the inevitable.

She was a princess and she knew her father would not allow it, her father was a very proud man who smiled in the presence of the poor but hated them with a passion.

She was always kept in the palace and never went out because her father did not want her to associate herself with the common people. The palace became so suffocating for her that she began to sneak out of the palace. That was when she met Nick, the love of her life.

She had promised to tell him in their seventh meeting and now, she could only hope he was alive after the palace was raided and if she finished her revenge without any hiccups she would find him and tell him everything.

"Stop losing focus Luciana, it is now or never" Luciana chided herself again. She got up and blew out the candles leaving the one at the wine table on, 'It might attract the prince to take a sip' she thought, lying down on the bed clutching the dagger waiting for the prince.
