"It's either you accept my offer or walk out of this company, then I can send this to all firms you apply to and have them not have you. It's two ways." She stopped trying to break free. I could see the tears gather in her eyes. "What do you say sweet cakes?" I whispered in her ears. The door swung open, just like how I had expected. "What the hell is going on here?" Her body went rigid. "Don't keep a man waiting for too long love. I wouldn't want to go back to her." I kissed her along her jaw line and bit on the skin around her shoulder. "Be mine Pamela Diaz. Accept my offer, it's quite the catch." "Kyle what on earth are you doing with that whore? Why are you kissing her?" "I." Pamela's voice shook, and the first tear dropped down her eye. "Kyle what the hell is going on, Kyle?" "Don't make me make a mistake I would regret later on in life." My hold on her tightened. After a moments breath she answered. "Yes, I will marry you." "You will what?" Donna's voice boomed. I stole Pamela away with a kiss, but even at that I could feel her salty tears ran down her face.
§§Donna.
"How many times do I have to spell it out to you? I am not fucking interested!"
I almost screamed my lungs out and yet, yet he could not get the damned information in his head. He was the biggest billionaire figure, but a simple sentence with the words, 'I will not' could not register in his head.
I stormed out of his office slamming the door pretty hard. Everyone in the lobby looked at me. I heard his steps quicken after me. If only I could reach the elevator.
His hands held my wrist and I turned with enough force. A splitting sound could be heard in the vast room and all was still, even time stopped.
He looked down at me. I was breathing so hard that I felt it hard trying to calm down. His hand itched closer to his stinging cheek, the smooth of his skin turning red. I looked at his eyes and I could see it, the unshed tears that turned his eyes red and watery. He opened his mouth to speak but I cut him short.
"This," I pointed at my ring finger, the one that still wore his engagement ring. "will never work. I will never fall for you and neither will I ever, mark my words ever marry you. I love Jake and I love him with all my heart!"
I poked his hard chest and he staggered a few paces back. His palm is still on his red cheek.
"Leave me alone. Jake is still in the picture and neither you, nor your massive fortune would ever make me fall for you. My preposition, friends?"
I held out my hand for him and yet he looked me in the eyes. I sighed as I was getting tired of standing on my heels. I looked down at my outstretched hand and then back at him. He still had his eyes glued on me.
"Like I said earlier, this does not affect my position or working relationship in the office or company as a whole. Our relationship would just be that of friends." He still did not say anything and I could see the rest of the employees watch him with belated breaths. He looked down at my hand and then back at me.
He opened his mouth to argue but I raised my free hand up to shut him. He closed his eyes as he bit hard on his lip. Once he realized it, it had blood and had gotten more pink. He set his mouth in a hard line and shook my outstretched hand with his free hand.
He did not look like the rich and powerful man with a menacing look, as a matter of fact he looked like someone that had just been through defeat, with the weight of the world resting on his shoulder. He turned his back on me and walked towards his office.
A part of me felt guilty for letting him down like that, but again I had been saying the same thing for the past six months now and he, well with his coconut for a head, refused to acknowledge that fact.
I turned on my heel and headed for the elevator then stopped before getting in. I looked back at the workers that stood shell shocked with gaping mouths. Then the guilt hit hard, I had just embarrassed the CEO right in front of his workers and I had thoroughly thrashed his office. Well it could have been avoided had he not insisted. Then another wave of guilt crashed through me as I pitted the person that was to clean his office.
Maybe I could, maybe I should go back and help out. After all, I was not his fiancée anymore. No I shook my head, it was for the better I left him to his thoughts.
I stepped out of the lift and ran with my heels clicking clacking against the white marble tiles. A splitting smile tore my face and I felt it hurt. Oh, the joys of no longer being engaged!
The door to the second department was bursting with live chatter and I got a glimpse of the video that was spreading around like wildfire. Another thing to be guilty about. But I shrugged it off.
"Guess who is no longer engaged?"
I shouted and they both looked at me. Ever so slowly their gazes landed on my eyes. I swirled around and giggled then collapsed on the spinning chair and spun myself around the small space. I covered my mouth as I laughed louder.
"You should have seen his face, he looked like he was about to cry."
The sound of palm hitting skin resonated in the small space and I stood up to look at the phone. I did feel bad about that though, I could still feel the pain in my arm. And I had never planned on hitting him, even though that felt good.
Ouch!
"So, you went through with it huh?" Matt asked. He did not seem to have an amused look on his face- not that I cared. He could not understand what I had been passing through for the past six months.
Having restless nights thinking about Kyle and eating his money.
Having to deal with Jake at the same time thinking of him and eating his money.
Having to think about marrying a CEO, one of the richest men in my whole list of rich men and having to deal with Jake at the same time thinking of him and eating his money.
Oh no I did not ask for his money, not that I refused when he sent me some or when he offered it to me. What girl did not enjoy buying things knowing that it was someone else paying?
Like I had said, I had been passing through a lot for the past months and it was all thanks to him. And now I could focus on me and Jake with a little less money. That did not count though.
"But you still have his engagement ring?" Matt still asked.
I looked at my ring finger and eyed the golden band that sat perfectly fitted around my skin. I had fallen in love with the ring and parting ways with it seemed hard, even though I had been planning on how to break his heart from the very first beginning.
It glistered under the light and I could not help the swell that filled my heart. "It is worth more than a million- do you think I would be that dumb to part ways with it?" He nodded but did not say anything. He rewound to the part of the slap and I could read the amount of emotions that ran through his face.
"Oh please," I said as I grabbed his phone and placed it screen first on the table. "do not tell me you are feeling bad for him? He is a jerk." He looked at me, really looked.
"What?" I asked.

My family was on the poverty line and had no way to support me in college. I had to work part-time every day just to make ends meet and afford to get into the university. That was when I met her—the pretty girl in my class that every boy dreamt of asking out. I was well aware she was out of my league. Nevertheless, I mustered all my courage and bravely told her that I had fallen for her. To my surprise, she agreed to be my girlfriend. With the sweetest smile I had ever seen, she told me that she wanted my first gift for her to be the latest and top-of-the-line iPhone. I worked like a dog and even did my classmates’ laundry to save up. My hard work eventually paid off after a month. I finally got to buy what she wanted. But as I was wrapping my gift, I saw her in the dressing room, making out with the captain of the basketball team. She then heartlessly made fun of my inadequacy and made a fool out of me. To make things worse, the guy whom she cheated on me with even punched me in the face. Desperation washed over me, but there was nothing I could do but lie on the floor as they trampled on my feelings. But then, my father called me out of the blue, and my life turned upside down. It turned out that I was a billionaire's son.
"Carroll Brown is dead! But you have to marry him in your sister's name." My mother said to me in a cold tone. My sister was engaged to the hottest billionaire. It should have been a perfect marriage. Unexpectedly, Carroll was dead in an accident. My sister didn't want to become a widow, so she forced me to marry her dead fiance. And I had no right to refuse her. Actually, I was the biological daughter of the Smith family. My sister was an adoptive one. My sister and I had been swapped at the hospital when we were just born. My parents had already had a deep relationship with her. So they chose to sacrifice me. On the wedding day, I was taken to the mourning hall. "Ma'am, please keep Master company and let him feel warm." The housekeeper said with a cold expression. I couldn't help but look up at the portrait above the coffin, and my heart skipped a beat at this glance. The man in the portrait was more handsome than the superstars in Hollywood. Carroll Brown? My dead husband? Wow, he was really handsome! I didn't know how long had passed when my stomach began to rebel. After one glance at the coffin, I swallowed my saliva and then begged with my fingers crossed. "Mr. Carroll, I'm starving! May I eat your pastries? You don't mind, do you?" "I do." "Ah!" Scared, I broke out in a cold sweat. My legs went limp, and I fell to the ground. I shouted, "Ghost!" Carroll curled his lips, leaned over, and touched the black coffin. "Mr. Carroll has risen from the dead. What do you think of this headline tomorrow?"
