It has been said that Every Wolf gets to turn at the Age of 18 and get their special ability. So there's just an hour left until my 18th birthday. I just can't wait to turn, get my special ability and meet my Future mate. So I got to the Wolf circle of the Seven stone where all Wolves' first transformation takes place. So it was finally the moment I've been waiting for and I could see all Wolves turning but I stood right there with not a single pain felt at any part of my body. It was a terrifying and shocking moment. My father, the Wolf Beta, stood there and couldn't believe his own eyes.. From there henceforth I was called the Broken Wolf, All time spent waiting for the moment was all a waste.
It was the moment I had been waiting for my whole life.
Mum always said that when a cub gets to the age of eighteen, they get to turn into a wolf under
the full moon. One of the best moments in every wolf's life, But the problem with transforming to
a wolf is that it's really painful.
You get to feel every single bone and joint In your body get broken for proper transformation. I
would be able to survive some lil pain, I guess?
It is at the full moon on every young wolf's 18th birthday, they get to experience a new change
and chapter of their life. They also get to meet their future mate, if they're lucky to find them
among pack members, and every special wolf gets gifted with a special ability.
My older brother, Micah, got his wolf after his first shift. Every wolf will have to kill a human, for
the full transformation to take place. There are few exceptions though.
But taking a human's life is the last thing I would ever want to try, because I love humans and
my best friend Annie is a human. We've been best of friends since childhood and she knows I
can't hurt a butterfly, not to think of a human. It gives me the chills to know that all my family had
their first kills after experiencing their first full moon. I wish there's another way I could go about
it, but sadly there isn't. Father says it's tradition, and our ancestors did it, so we had to follow in
their footsteps as well.
Six months from now will tell what will be my fate. I still had a few months before I fully clock
eighteen. I also can't wait to meet my mate. Annie has been waiting her whole life for this cause
she finds the whole wolf's thing fascinating.
"Diana!"
I sat up on the bed and groaned. It was Morgan, my oldest brother. He was really overprotective
of me and he got to experience his wolf shift three years ago and met his mate soon afterwards.
A glance at the wall clock told me it was past six thirty.
Time to get ready for school.
It is said in our wolf custom that every little wolf cub must attend Every college which only
happens at night, but here in my story I prefer to attend the Corinth college during the day and
Everly college at night. Because that's the only condition set down if I want to keep coming in
contact with the humans, but it wasn't too much to handle seeing how I got to meet my best
friend Annie.
It was finally time I got off my bed because Corinth college activities started by 7:30am. I head
over to the bathroom sink to brush my teeth when I realized that I hadn't played my favorite
Lana dey Rey song. It was so unlike me to begin the day without my favorite song playing. It
made the whole preparation for school so fun and I headed over for a shower with some
shouting in distress, just to let myself get heard and doing that makes me love the human lives
better. Too bad when I reach the age of eighteen, a new chapter of my story would automatically
begin.
I got ready for school and headed downstairs for breakfast.
Mom and Dad were already seated when I got to the dining room. While Mom shuffled about,
setting the table, Dad was engrossed, reading in the morning papers. I plopped my backpack
down on the floor and scooted back a chair to sit. "Morning, Dad. Morning, Mom."
My Dad, Gerald was the Beta of our wolf pack, Our pack was the strongest, toughest, richest,
and the biggest pack in our country. Mom set down a plate of waffles in front of me, and patted
my head. "Eat up quick so you don't keep Annie waiting."
"Yes, Mum."
I was done having my breakfast when I heard a loud hum coming from outside. Annie was
already here with her brand new sedan; a gift she got from her father for her eighteenth birthday.
I was really excited to hear the car hum, because every morning Dad never failed to lecture me
about not using my wolf instinct in school. It was already bad enough that I had so much contact
with the humans. I slung my backpack over my shoulder and I went outside.
"Finally!!"
"What took you so long, we don't wanna be late for the first class. You know how Miss Madonna
hates tardiness."
"Sorry about it! you know how Dad is. There isn't a day he doesn't drum into my ears about not
using my werewolf instincts in school..."
I pulled the front passenger door open and clambered in, kissing her slightly on the cheek.
"Good morning, you big grump."
"Morning," she grunted, starting up the car. We drove slowly down the empty roads. It was a
little too early for cars to be out.
"So Diana, how are we gonna plan your birthday and your full moon transformation?
"To be honest with you, there isn't going to be a special celebration. Mum says we just have to
pray for luck to be on our side and perform wolf rituals which I know nothing about."
"Girl! That's distasteful. You really need to question your parents about wolf culture, cause it
seems there's a lot to be learnt."
"You're right."
I felt some distress as it came to my realization that I've only been excited about the
transformation and no clue on wolf rituals. When we finally arrived at Corinth, Annie drove in
carefully to the parking lot, and I had to check myself in the mirrors to make sure there wasn't
anything I had on which would bring attention my way. This wasn't my world. And I hated the
idea of the humans becoming scared of me.
"This is it, girl. Our last year in this fucked up school. You don't know how glad I am to say I'll
finally be leaving this messy town and starting afresh someplace sane."
"I totally agree with you," I said, my pulse picking up, my breath becoming irregular as I recalled
what happened last semester. The disaster that claimed my social life in Corinth. Annie noticed
my sour mood, and placed her arm around my shoulder, prompting me to look up at her.
"Oh, come on now, Diana. Everything is gonna be alright, okay? Stop overthinking anything.
What happened last semester is not your fault. And it's in the past. This is a new session. A new
you. You've got to be brave.
"Yeah, right," I exhaled, still looking glum. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't... you're right. It's in the past. I
shouldn't still be mulling over that."
She beamed, pinching my cheeks. "Cheer up. Here's what we'll do. We're going to hold hands
and walk in. It's going to be a spectacular entrance, trust me. They're fellow humans like us. Not
gods. Relax. We're in this together."
I glanced at her, giving her the look which she understood quite well. I was scared, but I knew
as long as I had her beside me, I would be fine.
We headed to the school hallway, not without the usual silly gasping, sneering and gossip in the
air. We'd gotten used to it, so we kept our heads down, trudging towards our first class of the
day. Unfortunately, Skylar, the most popular girl in Corinth wasn't going to let us slip away that
easily. She intercepted us in front of the lockers, eyeing our appearance, her hands on her hips.
"Well, well, well. Who do we have here? If it isn't miss Diana or should we say miss heart
breaker..."
I shut my eyes, and felt like the ground was about to open up and was about to pull me right in,
cause I couldn't take it in anymore. But I could feel the anger simmering off Annie like she was
about to explode. I turned my face, right on time, and saw that Annie was about saying
something which could lead to something worse
"It's either you accept my offer or walk out of this company, then I can send this to all firms you apply to and have them not have you. It's two ways." She stopped trying to break free. I could see the tears gather in her eyes. "What do you say sweet cakes?" I whispered in her ears. The door swung open, just like how I had expected. "What the hell is going on here?" Her body went rigid. "Don't keep a man waiting for too long love. I wouldn't want to go back to her." I kissed her along her jaw line and bit on the skin around her shoulder. "Be mine Pamela Diaz. Accept my offer, it's quite the catch." "Kyle what on earth are you doing with that whore? Why are you kissing her?" "I." Pamela's voice shook, and the first tear dropped down her eye. "Kyle what the hell is going on, Kyle?" "Don't make me make a mistake I would regret later on in life." My hold on her tightened. After a moments breath she answered. "Yes, I will marry you." "You will what?" Donna's voice boomed. I stole Pamela away with a kiss, but even at that I could feel her salty tears ran down her face.

"My darling, I was wrong. Would you please come back to me?" The man, whom she once loved deeply, lowered his once proud head humbly. "I beg you to return to me." Belinda coldly pushed away the bouquet of flowers he had offered her and coolly replied, "It's too late. The bridge has been burned, and the ashes have long since scattered to the wind!"
