After being in and out of relationships, she decided not to be in any relationship or get married but to make a name for herself and create an impact. She was determined in every way until she came across the captivating CEO of Lawrence Group, Ethan Lawrence, who puts everyone at his beck and call, except Gigi. Will they fall in love with each other? Will a wedding happen? Will Gigi change her perspective about relationships?
On New Year's Day. A scorching sun but cool breeze was felt in Owerri, in the east part of Country N.
In just a few hours, the city was busy.
Gigi Lawrence just finished her last paper in the exam hall, ready to leave the hall with her fellow excited course mates.
At that moment, her phone vibrated, indicating new messages and other notifications.
Knowing it will be congratulations texts, she quickly took a selfie and posted with a caption, "So grateful, I'm speechless. It's finally over." Then she put it aside and followed others to have fun and get her white shirt signed.
It was a memorable day her.
"Ma..., Ma..., Ma Gigi." Peculiar tapped her.
Raising her head, and adjusting her blurred sight, she answered, "Yeah, P. wassup?"
"Were done arranging the sits and the banner is inside, let's go home, you look horrible and you need rest."
"Thank you dear, yeah, let's go. It's time." Gigi sat up straight, put her hands on her face. Then stood up to get her bag.
Inside the bus, Peculiar was looking at Gigi worriedly. She had known her for close to a year now as she was a student to the organization Gigi worked for.
Gigi just graduated and bagged her BSc late last year, and she has been working tirelessly because of responsibilities and because she will soon serve. Not for the country but for her church, something they call "Missions."
"Ma, should I follow you home? You look so weak."
"No, I'm fine. I just need to sleep."
"Do you have something to eat at home? Should we get something before heading home?"
"Peculiar, you're talking too much. Don't forget you'll drop before me. And no, I didn't cook but I'll get something before I get to my hostel. I'll take care of myself, don't worry."
"Okay. You'll soon leave us for missions. Then after a year, you'll go for NYSC. It'll be years before I get to see you again. Then who knows, you might even get married."
Gigi couldn't help but curl her lips into a silent, cold laugh as she replied Peculiar with a question, "Marriage?"
Peculiar is an innocent girl, light brown skinned, tall and slim with beautiful facial features. Knowing she has already though of her marriage made her feel a thing in her heart which made her uncomfortable for a second, but she hid it well.
"Yes, marriage. Maybe you'll see your man during missions, or when you're serving or even at your work place."
"Dropping! We're here, you can go. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Okay Ma, thank you. Take care of yourself."
Gigi replies with a kind smile.
"You're a creepy bastard." His eyes smolder me and his answering grin is nothing short of beautiful. Deadly. "Yet you hunger for me. Tell me, this appetite of yours, does it always tend toward 'creepy bastards'?" **** Widower and ex-boss to the Mafia, Zefiro Della Rocca, has an unhealthy fixation on the woman nextdoor. It began as a coincidence, growing into mere curiosity, and soon, it was an itch he couldn't ignore, like a quick fix of crack for an addict. He didn't know her name, but he knew every inch of her skin, how it flushed when she climaxed, her favourite novel and that every night she contemplated suicide. He didn't want to care, despising his rapt fascination of the woman. She was in love with her abusive husband. She was married, bound by a contract to the Bratva's hitman. She was off-limits. But when Zefiro wanted something, it was with an intensity that bordered on madness. He obsessed, possessed, owned. There'd be bloodshed if he touched her, but the sight of blood always did fascinate him. * When Susanna flees from her husband, she stumbles right into the arms of her devilishly handsome neighbour with a brooding glare. He couldn't stand her, but she needed him, if she was ever going to escape her husband who now wanted her dead. Better the devil you know than the angel you don't. She should have recalled that before hopping into Zefiro's car and letting him whisk her away to Italy. Maybe then, she wouldn't have started an affair with him. He was the only man who touched her right, and the crazy man took no small pains in ensuring he would be the last.

Belinda thought after divorce, they would part ways for good - he could live his life on his own terms, while she could indulge in the rest of hers. However, fate had other plans in store. "My darling, I was wrong. Would you please come back to me?" The man, whom she once loved deeply, lowered his once proud head humbly. "I beg you to return to me." Belinda coldly pushed away the bouquet of flowers he had offered her and coolly replied, "It's too late. The bridge has been burned, and the ashes have long since scattered to the wind!"
