Isabella never expected to fall for her arrogant, demanding boss, Alexander Wolfe. As his secretary, she was supposed to follow his orders, not crave his touch. But when a single, stolen moment ignites an undeniable passion, resisting him becomes impossible. Alexander is used to being in control, in business and in the bedroom. From the moment Isabella walked into his office, he knew she was his. But she fights him at every turn, determined to keep her walls up. As their dangerous game of power and seduction escalates, desire turns into something neither of them expected-something deeper, something real. But with passion comes risk, and surrendering to love means letting go of control. Will Isabella take the ultimate leap of faith? Or will their love story burn out before it truly begins?

Chapter 1 First Impressions

Isabella Carter tightened her grip on the leather-bound portfolio in her hands as she stepped into the towering Blackwood Enterprises building. The marble floors gleamed under the fluorescent lights, the air carrying a faint scent of expensive cologne and fresh coffee. Everyone around her moved with purpose, their sharp suits and confident strides exuding power.

She took a deep breath, straightened her posture, and approached the receptionist.

"Isabella Carter," she said, keeping her voice firm. "I'm here for my first day as Mr. Blackwood's secretary."

The receptionist barely glanced at her before tapping on her keyboard. "Twentieth floor," she said flatly. "Mr. Blackwood's office is at the end of the hall. Don't keep him waiting."

Isabella nodded and made her way to the elevators, her heart pounding. Alexander Blackwood was a name she'd heard countless times-ruthless, brilliant, and intimidating. A billionaire who built his empire from the ground up, known for his sharp business acumen and even sharper tongue. Working for him was an opportunity of a lifetime, but it also came with its own set of warnings. Don't cross him. Don't make mistakes. And most importantly-don't get too close.

The elevator ride was too short, giving her little time to compose herself before the doors opened with a chime. As she stepped into the sleek office space, she was met with the hushed whispers of employees who barely spared her a glance. She swallowed hard and walked toward the massive double doors at the end of the corridor.

With a steadying breath, she knocked.

"Come in." The deep voice was smooth yet commanding, sending a shiver down her spine.

She pushed the door open, stepping inside the expansive office. Floor-to-ceiling windows offered a breathtaking view of the city skyline, but her attention was drawn to the man standing behind the mahogany desk.

Alexander Blackwood was more striking than she expected. Tall and broad-shouldered, his custom-tailored suit fit him like a second skin. Dark hair, slightly tousled, framed a chiseled face with sharp cheekbones and an even sharper gaze. His piercing blue eyes locked onto her with an intensity that made her pulse quicken.

For a moment, silence stretched between them. Then he leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers against the polished surface of his desk.

"Miss Carter," he said, his voice measured. "You're late."

Her eyes widened. "I-what? I was told to be here by eight-thirty. It's exactly eight-thirty."

His lips curved, but there was no humor in his expression. "Eight-thirty is when you start working. Being on time means being early. You're already failing your first lesson."

Her jaw clenched, but she forced a polite smile. "Noted. It won't happen again."

He stood, slowly rounding the desk, and stopped just a breath away from her. His presence was overwhelming, a mix of authority and something else-something dangerously alluring.

"I don't tolerate mistakes, Miss Carter." His voice was softer now, almost taunting. "Do you think you can handle working for me?"

She lifted her chin, meeting his gaze without flinching. "I don't just think so, Mr. Blackwood. I know so."

A flicker of something unreadable passed through his eyes before he nodded.

"We'll see about that."

As Isabella took her seat at her new desk just outside his office, she exhaled sharply. One thing was certain-working for Alexander Blackwood was going to be anything but easy.
