I was born into wealth, but my fortune changed when I was destined to marry Alpha Cassius Fairfax. My own family, indifferent to my feelings, handed me over to the cruel and powerful leader of the pack.

I never dreamed of a perfect, happy marriage, but that didn't stop me from trying to earn my husband's kindness. Despite Cassius's indifference and cruelty, I made efforts to bridge the gap and ease the tensions.

After being married to the Alpha for a few months and pregnant with his child, I walked through the castle's corridors toward our bedroom.

I turned the doorknob and stepped inside. My eyes fell on my husband, the domineering Alpha who controlled not only the pack but my entire life. He was seated at his desk in the corner of the room, engrossed in some papers. My face fell as I noticed him pretending not to see me.

All I wanted was a simple, peaceful evening with him, but as always, Cassius unleashed his anger on me when he noticed my approaching steps. He turned to look at me, his eyes blazing with irritation.

"What do you want now, Lux? Can't you see I'm busy?" I clasped my hands together and began to speak slowly.

"My Alpha, I just... I thought we could talk for a bit before going to bed." Cassius stood up abruptly, startling me. His large, firm hand slammed down on the desk so hard that I jumped in fright. My eyes widened in fear as I took a few steps back.

"I'M BUSY, CAN'T YOU SEE THAT? DON'T BOTHER ME, UNDERSTAND? DON'T COME TO ME UNLESS I CALL FOR YOU. HOW IRRITATING YOU ARE!" The harshness in his voice shattered my heart once again. Seeing the rage on my husband's face, I lowered my head and obeyed without protest.

Cassius stormed past me, slamming the door, and that night, I had no idea when-or if-he would return to the bedroom.

As I continued to struggle for my husband's attention, my heart longed for a genuine gesture of affection. Yet Cassius's coldness stood like an impenetrable wall. In this dark moment of my life, I felt my hopes and dreams slipping through my fingers. I sat on the bed, my heart breaking further, my eyes filling with tears that soon streamed down my small face.

Why is he so cold and cruel to me? I whispered to myself.

I couldn't understand why he remained so bitter and harsh. Lying down on the bed, I closed my eyes, trying to sleep and forget what had happened.

Months Later

I was walking quietly through the dim corridors of the castle. I had dined alone in the dining hall, as usual, and was now wandering through the vast hallway. My long pink dress dragged along the floor, and my pale skin bore invisible marks of a life of submission and sadness.

"I can still change my husband. I know he'll feel some affection for me soon," I whispered, clinging to my words with confidence.

Holding the fabric of my dress, I took a deep breath, trying to calm my heart. I wanted to go to my room and sleep beside my husband. As I walked, lost in thought, I began to speak aloud.

"Maybe if I surprise him, I can improve our relationship a little. That's it!" I said, smiling softly and placing a gentle hand on my belly.

I was seven months pregnant, and the only thing that brought me joy in these dark months was the baby growing within me.

As I approached the bedroom, I started to hear moans and voices. My expression grew serious as I placed my hand on the doorknob, wondering whether I should open it.

"What is that?" I asked myself, fear creeping in at the thought of what I might see. The moans didn't stop, and I knew all too well what they meant.

Narrowing my eyes, I spoke firmly, raising my voice.

"I'm going in," I declared, determined, turning the doorknob swiftly.

My world fell apart when, in the throes of cruelty, I discovered what my husband was doing behind that door. I couldn't believe it, my eyes went wide, and I screamed at that moment, feeling pain in my chest.

"No... Is this really happening? What is this, Cassius?" I repeated over and over, shouting at him. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The walls heard my muffled screams as I confronted Cassius and my sister, who were naked on my bed. It was really her, so I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Alpha quickly got out of bed, hurriedly putting on his pants. He silenced me by covering my mouth with his large, firm hand, threatening me.

"Stop shouting, do you understand me? I turned away from him in disbelief.

He cheated on me with my sister and then asked me to shut up? What did he think he was doing?

I felt my eyes getting wet, to the point of tears. I took his hands away from my mouth.

"WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME, CASSIUS?

I shouted at him once more, feeling the pain in my chest increase. My husband came closer, his eyes red with anger, and covered my mouth again, making it impossible for me to speak.

"I said... SHUT UP!" he squeezed my face and pushed me back, biting his lip in anger. I tried to free myself and quickly saw my husband's other hand on my face.

The echoing slap made my face turn. I put my hand to my face and turned to look at him, feeling the tears roll down. Our eyes met and he spoke, threatening me.

"Don't you dare say another word, do you hear me?'' I didn't look away from him. At that moment, my heart was breaking, not to mention my face, which was hurting, I could feel it burning.

I looked at my sister, who was sitting on the bed with a sheet covering her. She was smiling, as if nothing had happened.

How dare she do this to me? Acting like that?

I turned my face, staring at the floor, trying to control the tears that kept coming. I still couldn't believe that my sister was so shameless. I raised my voice, even though I was afraid of Cassius' reaction.

"Cassius, why are you doing this to me? I've always done everything for you; I carry your child, the future Alpha.'' I raised my head to look at him, but it was a mistake.

Cassius held my face violently with both hands, and our eyes met.

''Don't you know how to obey, Lux? I want you to get out of here... NOW.'' He shouted and pushed me back.

I balanced myself on the wall to avoid falling to the floor. I sighed deeply, wiped away the tears that were wetting my face and just shook my head, as I always did. I left the room feeling a pain I couldn't describe.

It wasn't the first time, he had already lain with some of the castle's she-wolves, I didn't even want to remember that, but he had lain with my sister, and that... It was unforgivable... I felt like my heart was breaking, I could hardly breathe properly, I felt suffocated...
