Three friends Lucky, Ifeanyi and Luthando attended one of the technical colleges in Soweto, South Africa. Lucky the smartest and wildest amongst the trio opens up about a couple soothsayer living across the hills somewhere in Soweto. He talks about a spooky book which his elder brother had gotten from them. He persuades Ifeanyi and Luthando to come with him to the hills to consult the couples. Unknown to them, the male soothsayer monitors them. Ifeanyi declines the idea of going to consult the couple and this brings a little conflict between he and Lucky. Ifeanyi finally agrees after much coaxing from Luthando, followed by the reconciliation between he and Lucky. Trouble breaks after Lucky stole a nut from the couple.
Far away in the city of Soweto, across the hills and rivers lived a young boy tied to the strings of destiny.
Ifeanyi opened his eyes to the sound of the blaring alarm clock. He stretched his left hand and the clock fell on the floor. He sat up angrily looking at the wall clock.
"Heyyy! It's almost eight thirty!"
He jumped down from his bed and picked up the clock. He threw it on his bed and ran into the bathroom. He eased himself, forgetting to flush the toilet. He picked up his brush, plastering it with toothpaste. He began to brush his teeth quickly. After brushing, he undressed and took his bath immediately.
He ran out of the bathroom unclad after a cold bath. He opened his wardrobe and took out his school uniform. He dressed up hastily like he was going to drop dead if he didn't do it that way. He placed his tie on his shoulder. He bent, looking under the bed, he found his shoes and took them out. He held them with his socks in his hands and ran to the sitting room to have his breakfast. He was expecting something soft.
"Mummy good morning."
His mother ignored the greeting and turned to him.
"You have luck your father is not around. I just left you to sleep to the fullest so that you'll realize how screwed up you are this morning."
"I over slept nah. I told you to wake me up last night." Ifeanyi said, knotting his tie.
"My friend go and eat."
Ifeanyi sat on the coach, pushing the table close to himself. He uncovered the plates and his mouth ran agape at what he saw.
"Oooooooo."
"What is it?" Zimuzo asked.
"Mummy garri this early morning? Swallowing this thing is not easy now."
"Did I cook a scorpion? Oga eat that thing. That's the one we have. If you don't want to eat it then forget about it."
Ifeanyi sighed and shrugged. Despite his railings, he dismantled the garri and Egusi soup that morning, wore his shoes and left the house. He trotted noisily on the streets. He would try to catch up with the school bus.
Ifeanyi was a seventeen year old boy who lived with his parents in Sweto, South Africa. He was an only child who was smart and brilliant. He was dark skinned, tall and slim. He was good in tech and that's why his parents put him in a technical college. He had two best friends at school, Luthando and Lucky. Both were South Africans and Zulu by tribe. Luthando was short and a bit light skinned while Lucky was dark skinned and the tallest amongst them. Both were in technically inclined. Ifeanyi jumped down from the school bus, clutching his bag. The students trooped out of the bus. Someone pushed him while trying to run into the classroom.
"My friend can't you say sorry!" He shouted but the girl was too engrossed in her race to reply him. He hissed and made for the classroom.
Luthando and Lucky were already seated in class. They both stood up to to greet him.
"Late again?" Lucky asked.
"No I'm not at least I caught up with the school bus. Your houses are close to the school."
"I guess your mother must've spanked you." Luthando teased.
"No she doesn't do that anymore."
As the made to go to their various seats, someone drew Ifeanyi's hair from behind at the same time preventing him from sitting down.

My family was on the poverty line and had no way to support me in college. I had to work part-time every day just to make ends meet and afford to get into the university. That was when I met her—the pretty girl in my class that every boy dreamt of asking out. I was well aware she was out of my league. Nevertheless, I mustered all my courage and bravely told her that I had fallen for her. To my surprise, she agreed to be my girlfriend. With the sweetest smile I had ever seen, she told me that she wanted my first gift for her to be the latest and top-of-the-line iPhone. I worked like a dog and even did my classmates’ laundry to save up. My hard work eventually paid off after a month. I finally got to buy what she wanted. But as I was wrapping my gift, I saw her in the dressing room, making out with the captain of the basketball team. She then heartlessly made fun of my inadequacy and made a fool out of me. To make things worse, the guy whom she cheated on me with even punched me in the face. Desperation washed over me, but there was nothing I could do but lie on the floor as they trampled on my feelings. But then, my father called me out of the blue, and my life turned upside down. It turned out that I was a billionaire's son.
