After breaking up with her boyfriend, Maeva was forced by her father to marry Rune to pay off a debt. But it turned out that Rune was much younger than she was. Instead of treating him like a husband, she seemed to treat him like her own brother. Rune was so upset that he showed his true colors. It turned out that he could be a man who always wanted to dominate. Maeva was shocked.
"Let's break up."
Maeva was too surprised to speak for a few moments. She assumed she had misheard or that if it was true, it must be a prank.
"You're... joking, right?" Maeva asked.
"To be honest, I've been cheating," Henri admitted.
Maeva's heart suddenly ached, her body to freeze and her mouth to open slightly. As far as she knew, Henri was a nice and attentive man. Her guy would never cheat. She was still unable to believe it.
"You are pranking me, right? "We've been together for three years and plan to marry," Maeva said.
"Hahaha. You should examine yourself before thinking like that. You look just like the maid in my house." How could I marry a woman like you?"
Maeva was startled. She never expected Henri to disrespect her like that. The man seemed to be a completely different person.
Maeva was an elementary school teacher. It wasn't that she couldn't care for herself or look good, but her paycheck was always used to pay off her father's debts, fund her mother's treatment, and send her younger sister to school. She had become the family's backbone.
"Is it that woman who has made you like this?" Maeva whispered.
"Her name is Iris." Henri responded, "She's far better than you in every way." "Good-bye, Maeva. I might send you a wedding invitation, but try to look a little more appealing so you don't get laughed at."
Henri finally went, leaving Maeva in disbelief. The woman's eyes were watery, but Maeva understood she was in the center of a crowd, and so she refrained from crying. She was not in the mood to complete her meal. When she was about to go, her phone rang unexpectedly. She was immediately afraid because it was her sister calling.
Maeva: Is Mom alright?
Penelle: I need money, sister. I'm out of cash.
Maeva: Can't you be frugal, given our current situation?
Penelle: I can't. Oh, dad told you to come home because he wants to talk about something really important.
Maeva: Is Dad home? At the hospital?
Penelle: At home. He had a quick meeting with his mom. Mom's condition is worsening, he remarked. Do not forget the money, sis!
Maeva: If you want money, you can get a job.
Penelle: How stingy.
Maeva: Tell Dad I'll be home soon, and you go to the hospital to keep Mom company!
Penelle: I won't till you give me money.
Maeva quickly terminated the call.
Her boyfriend just broke up with her, her sister has asked for money, and her mother's condition is deteriorating. Maeva had dizziness.
On her way home, Maeva came upon a man riding a motorcycle without a helmet. His hair was neat and brownish-black, and his skin was fair, matching the light blue shirt. He also wore a mask.
"Not wearing a helmet, young man?" Maeva asked the man as she waited to cross.
The man turned and seemed perplexed. "Who?"
"Not anyone in particular. "Just a reminder," Maeva responded.
"Thanks, but I don't need that," the man replied.
Maeva shakes her head. "Even if you are riding pillion, you must wear a helmet." It's for your own safety anyway."
"Riding pillion?" the man repeated.
"Maybe you're waiting for your friend."
"I am alone. And, as said previously, it is not about the helmet. However, I need your advice. I don't need it; I already know."
Maeva grinned awkwardly. "Young people these days don't sometimes thank but reject advise, right? "My young sister is also like that."
Maeva then crossed the road.
Even after Maeva crossed, the man continued to stare at her.
When Maeva returned home, she was greeted by her young sister, who extended one hand and asked for money.
"I've told you how many times, there's no money!" Maeva insisted.
"Sis is so annoying, you just met your boyfriend, you should have asked for a lot of money," Penelle grumbled.
Penelle departed just like that, slamming the door. Thanks to the girl's words, Mavea remembered Henri's words which made her heart feel tight.
"Sit down, Maeva!" Agasa commanded. He had just returned from the kitchen to offer Maeva a drink.
Maeva sat down and drank. Her father sat across from her. Maeva placed her glass on the table.
"Why don't we just talk in the hospital?" We could keep mom company because I don't think Penelle will go there," Maeva added.
"I want you to think about it. Valerian's only son is looking for a couple. "I... proposed to my daughter."
"Huh? "What do you mean, Dad?"
"We need a large sum of money to pay off debts and pay for your mother's treatment. What will happen to your mother if we do not pay for further therapy soon? We can solve this problem by marrying into a wealthy family," Agasa explained.
Maeva remained silent for a moment. "Dad is just the private driver of the Valerian family head, so how could they want the daughter of a driver."
"The boy claimed it didn't matter. He stated, "I'll see for myself."
Maeva remained silent for a few moments.
"Is that true? I don't mind because Penelle has finally found a partner from a wealthy family. "She might change for the better," Maeva stated.
"Not Penelle. But you."
"What?" Maeva was shocked.
"How could I submit Penelle with that kind of personality, Maeva?" Maeva's father snapped. "You are an independent, responsible woman, a teacher, I think you're perfect for him."
"Dad, I want to marry someone I love," Maeva stated.
"You will eventually come to adore him. Rather than continuing a relationship with your guy, who never assists us at all."
"I've broken up with Henri," Maeva explained.
"What? Who broke it off?" Agasa expressed amazement.
"He did," Maeva replied.
"That scoundrel is certainly untrustworthy and ungrateful. Perfect timing for vengeance. Show him you're capable of outperforming him."
"But isn't this too sudden?"
"That's why I arrived home early!" If you continue to refuse, it shows you don't care if your mother dies."
"Alright, dad, I'll do it," Maeva replied resignedly just for the sake of her mother's recovery.
