"No, no, no! How can this be?"

Yvonne Tate stared at the pregnancy test result in her hands. It stated that she was two months pregnant.

There was no greater nightmare than the one she experienced two months ago. At her engagement party, she accidentally caught her sister screwing her fiancé, Cillian Schultz. Heartbroken, she drank herself into a stupor. It just so happened that she went into the wrong hotel room. That night, she had sex with a strange man.

The strange man couldn't keep his hands off her. In the dimly lit room, he pressed her to the bed and forcefully had his way with her. The thought of what happened that night still sent chills down her spine.

No matter how she cried and struggled, the man didn't stop. Her virginity, which she had kept for twenty years, was taken by a man she had no idea what he looked like.

Yvonne's hands shook until the test result fell to the floor. In a split second, a delicate hand appeared out of nowhere and picked it up.

"What? You are pregnant!" Natalia Tate, her half-sister, shouted out loud.

Yvonne was greatly annoyed and embarrassed. She blamed Natalia and that unfaithful scum, Cillian for this. After all, she wouldn't have drunk and walked into the wrong room if they hadn't betrayed her!

Natalia was no calm person. Now that she was shunned, she deliberately increased the volume of her voice. "Oh, Yvonne! If my memory serves me right, you were still in a relationship with Cillian two months ago, right? How come you are pregnant? Did you cheat on him?"

Of course, not!

Yvonne's eyes were shooting daggers at Natalia now. The nerve of this bitch to accuse her of cheating when she slept with Cillian at her engagement party! Was she suffering from amnesia, or was she just plain shameless?

"Don't you dare accuse me of being promiscuous. I never cheated on Cillian! Besides, have you no shame or fear? Aren't you afraid that I will tell the whole world that you are a woman who slept with her sister's fiancé?"

Natalia's lips curled up in a faint smile. She shook the piece of paper in her hand and said, "Go ahead if you have the balls. The fact remains that you are the slut. You cheated while still engaged. Besides, I'm Cillian's fiancée now. Even if you decided to publicize this, I have a way to defend myself. You will be made a fool in the end!"

"Yvonne!"

A roar came from the door. Their father, Daniel Tate came over and slapped Yvonne hard on the cheek.

"You stupid girl! I can't believe that I have a daughter like you. How dare you get pregnant out of wedlock? You have brought shame to this family! How will I explain this to Cillian's family if the news gets out?"

A few servants began to whisper as they watched Daniel scold his daughter. Natalia smiled proudly. Yvonne held her swollen cheek as tears threatened to drop from her eyes.

"Dad, I didn't do anything shameless. This is just a misunderstanding. It was Natalia and Cillian-"

"What? It's just a misunderstanding?" Daniel snatched the test result and threw it to her face. "How then do you explain this? What does this mean?"

Yvonne bowed her head, not knowing what to say. How best could she tell her raging father that she drank herself into a stupor and ended up in another man's bed? That would only make him angrier.

Yvonne's stepmother, Eleanor Tate descended the stairs slowly. She said with ridicule, "This must be why she insisted on breaking off the engagement with Cillian. She got pregnant after opening her legs for another man! There's no way that the child is Cillian's. After all, why would she choose to break up with him if it was his?" After glaring at Yvonne, Eleanor said to her husband, "Calm down, honey. We should find out who impregnated her first so we can know what step to take."

The fire in Daniel's eyes increased as he stared at Yvonne. "Tell me, who is responsible for the pregnancy? If you don't speak up, I'll disown you!"

"I... I don't know..." Yvonne stammered, quaking in her boots.

She hadn't seen the face of that man clearly.

Not only was the room dim that night, but her vision was also blurry because she had too much to drink. The only thing she could remember was that the man smelled of sandalwood.

"How can you not know who impregnated you? Are you trying to cover up for him? You are so shameless!"

Daniel went ballistic. He gave Yvonne a hard slap on her other cheek, causing her to stagger back and fall to the floor with a thud.

She held her swollen cheeks with both hands and burst into tears.

It was so unfair that no one was on her side. Yvonne knew that Natalia wanted to ruin her reputation so she would be kicked out of the house; it was what she had always wanted from the first day she and her mother set foot in this house.

Years ago, Yvonne's mother died at a young age. It wasn't long after that the mother and daughter moved in and turned Daniel against her. They made life a living hell for her ever since.
