The last thing I remembered about my biological family were laughter. That was it....
Laughter from different people. I can't remember what they looked like, not even their names and I don't even care to know why.
My name is Katherine Hallway, known as The Sniper in the mob and I'm a killer.
That is what I know how to do best... killing,.. and I enjoyed doing it, not just because of the rich pay attached of course. There's just this thrill that comes with seeing people take their last breaths.
How did I turn this way?
I'm sure I was once a little happy girl with a happy home....at least I hope so since I can't even remember that.
My whole memories started from the Mob.
That was my family, where I learnt everything I knew..where I was taught how to survive in this cruel world

"This life is a war. Survival of the fittest. Only the strong survive and prevails, while the weak just becomes the prey....so it's your choice. Do u want to be the predator or the Prey?"
- Madam E
August, 2010.
"Move move move, don't be a lazy bunny. Move. Run" The huge soldier running besides us barked again and again and we did just that. We ran hard and fast, tired, hungry and thirsty...but neither of us dared to stop. We all knew what would happen if we did.
There were about thirty of us. A few girls and mostly boys and none of us were more than fifteen years old.
I was thirteen.
And it had been exactly six months since we were brought to this hell...with no single memory of our families.
Suddenly the boy running before me passed out and I just ran over him and continued.
Poor boy.....
Nobody stopped to help him, and we didn't even flinch when we heard a gunshot behind us.
May your soul rest in perfect peace.
I prayed in my heart. This wasn't a journey of the weak, and I was determined not to be weak.

"I was scared to death" one of the girls mumbled later that day, when we were all resting in a cell.
"Me too.." another one replied.
"Poor Daniel. We started talking few weeks ago"
I didn't say a word.... I never did.
I don't think anyone noticed me in the mob. I was always sitting around in dark corners and observing, listening to every conversation. And I liked it that way.
After a few minutes rest we were all pushed outside again by some soldiers....for more training.

"Tomorrow you all will start training for real. I have pampered you guys enough, but I want to equip you as much as I can with everything you need to survive in the outside world. That includes teaching you how to handle weapons, real weapons..how to use your computers and how to use your body to get what you want. At the end of the month there will be a task. To determine who deserves to stay and who doesn't... Understood?"
"Yes Mum" we all chorused and Madam E smiled.
"Good I'll let you all to rest for now. Tomorrow you will be up before 3:00am so get as much rest as you can. Goodnight Angels" She said and left the cell, with two soldiers following her.
Damn
The moment she left the cell erupted in noises, everyone speaking at once.
"We are going to be taught how to handle weapons?... Cool" a boy said and I scoffed.
Doofus
"I know right?" Another chipped in.
"I wonder what we will be using. Guns, knives, bows or what?"
"I'd love to get my hand on a rifle" another girl, about my age chipped in and mimicked a shooting motion with her arms.
Again, I ignored them all got into my bed and closed my eyes listening to every conversation going on in the room, till one by one it died off and the cell was silent.

A loud bang on the door had us all scrambling out of the bed in fear.
Shit what time was it?
Midnight?
"It's two-thirty Am lazy bones ... Get up let's get to work. You have just 30 minutes to brush your teeth, shower and report yourselves at the beach.... Anyone that fails to...will be shot"
A soldier ordered and we all rushed to get ready.
About thirty minutes later we were all already by the beach, divided into five groups for the six tables there...with six of us around each table.
I was in a group of five girls including me, and a boy. And our table has all sorts of weapons... knifes, guns, bows and bullets.
Amazing.
"Today you will be choosing a weapon. Pick any weapon of your choice that you like, and would feel comfortable with, that's where you start"
The first girl, the oldest in our group picked up the bow and arrows with a grin and a nod.
The boy picked up a long gun, raised it up to examine it for a minute then grinned.
"Oh yeah...."
The second girl picked two small guns too, the third picked a sheated sword, the fourth picked up another long gun.
I stared at the remaining contents on the table for some minutes before my eyes caught two beautiful daggers with Italian handwriting on the blade and shiny red heads.
I held them in both hands and smiled at the glorious weight of the weapon.
At that moment, I felt a weird connection with the weapon I picked.
After making our choices, we waited for the soldier's next instructions.
"Hey daggers" The boy in our group called coming beside me and bumping my shoulder with his "what's your name?"
I blinked because that was the first time anyone had approached me in the mob. I was mostly invisible.
"Katherine" I murmured not turning to look at him.
"So we can call you Katie right?" The eldest girl chipped in with a smile "I'm Chelsea" she said extending her hand which I shook for a few seconds.
"What about you handsome?" She said to the boy besides me with a smile that was much bigger than the one she gave me
Gross
"The name is Henry" he replied. "It's nice to meet you Chelsea"
Then he left to speak to the other two girls.
"He has a nice ass" Chelsea whistled licking her lips and I had to laugh.
"That's gross" I giggled
"Yeah what do you know? How old are you?"
"Thirteen" I replied
"Well I'm fifteen. I'm old enough to know a fine ass when I see one. You dear little sister on the other hand are too young to know" She said Patting my head and I smiled
Just like that, I made my first friend in the mob.
