Eva Primes had never imagined that her life could change so much in the twinkling of an eye, when her cousin Kiara elopes on the day of her wedding, she is forced to take her place as the bride, getting married to this Man Neron stones whom she hated so much and of course, the feeling was mutual. Having no way of escape, her thought all through was how her life was going to be after the wedding. But to her surprise, all she expected was not what she got, rather she got to see the loving side of Neron, which made her suspect that he was up to something. Was he sincere or did he have an ulterior motive? And what happens when Eva's cousin makes a return when things start to blossom between Eva and Neron?
"Eva, Eva," Ashley called repeatedly but got no response from Eva who was laying on her bed and grinning from ear to ear, she was so engrossed in her thoughts. Ashley smiled she knew her best friend was at it again fantasizing about how she was going to get married to her prince charming and then they were going to live happily ever after.
Ashley tapped her on the shoulder which drifted her out of her thoughts. She smiled on seeing Ashley from the look on Ashley's face Eva knew that she might have been calling her for quite some time now and she was going to get an earful from her best friend now.
"I'm sorry," she apologised.
Ashley smiled nodding her head, " so tell me which romance novel did you read this time?" She questioned.
Eva laughed, Ashley was right she loved Romance novels a lot and maybe she was a bit too dreamy about them, " No book." She lied she knew that if she was to tell her the truth then Ashley was going to keep teasing her for as long as she could.
Ashley bobbed her head as she watched Eva speak, she knew she wasn't telling the truth. "Sadly,e lying to your best friend but what can I say, anyways your uncle has called for you." She told her.
"Oh," she replied standing up.
"Where is he?" She inquired.
"At the study, I'll just return to the kitchen to continue my work." Ashley smiled walking in front as Eva trailed behind her.
Ashley went to the kitchen and Eva stepped outside the house since the study was in a different building, the mansion was so big and had so many rooms and other buildings which they didn't even need.
In no time she was back to daydreaming about the book she had just finished reading and before she could say jack she felt her leg lose balance as she had just missed a step, she had expected to see herself on the ground in no time but she felt a pair of strong hands around her waist which stopped her from falling, from the cedar and evergreen scent which had now fill her nostrils she knew it was him, Neron! Her cousin's fiance and she was in his arms, Her cousin Kiara was going to kill her if she was to see this, she tilted her eyes to look at him.
He had shiny black hair which was styled some strands fell on his face, he had beautiful facial features, he had a sharp jaw, hazel eyes and a straight nose, his lips were pink coloured and plumped. He was tall even though she wasn't short they was a noticeable difference in their heights. A mischievous smile formed on his face.
"Done checking me out?" He jibed.
Eva was about to say something but stopped when she heard Kiara's voice.
"Are you this desperate to warm my fiance's bed?" She snapped. Eva swallowed hard, just what she had expected. She felt disgusted, she could never imagine herself with Neron, she hated people like him. Arrogant, selfish and assholes like him weren't her type of guy.
"Eww! I would rather eat from a gutter than ever be with Neron." Eva spat.
Neron's eyes widened in surprise as he heard that, it struck him hard in the chest. The surprise on his face was soon replaced with a smirk.
"No wonder you haven't refused to let go of me," he mumbled sarcastically.
Eva rolled her eyes, she pursed her lips her glances darted from Kiara to Neron then she said, " You should have let me fall instead, I would rather be on the ground than in your arms." She cringed, her upper lip curling up.
Neron chuckled as he stared at her face. If looks could kill then he would have been long dead
"So be it then," he muttered letting go of her, she fell her butt hit the ground so hard that she winced in pain. Kiara burst out laughing, Neron on the other hand was trying so hard to stop himself from laughing.
"Good for you, that's where you belong." Kiara mocked. She turned to Neron, she kissed his cheek before holding his hand, he put his hand around her waist " let go, Sweetheart," she smiled before they sauntered away.
"Assholes!" Eva cursed underneath her breath, she hated those two they never missed a chance to make her life miserable. She stood up, using her hand she dusted her skirt, her butt was hurting, she knew he was cruel but she didn't expect him to drop her like that.
She took a deep breath before waddling to the study. When she got there, the door was open her uncle was seated on his chair focused on his laptop, he raised his head when he heard her footsteps, and he smiled on seeing her.
"Uncle you called for me, sorry I showed up late. I was caught up with something." She apologised.
"It's fine, I had asked Kiara if she knew where the files Mr James had brought here yesterday were but she told me that you had kept them." He told her.
Eva's eyes narrowed in confusion, yesterday Mr James had come to the house but it was Kiara who attended to him Eva wanted to since their parents were out but Kiara stopped her, she seemed interested in having the conversation with him.
"Uncle, the files were given to Kiara not me, I have no idea where they are," Eva answered.
"Oh wow, why would you lie against me Eva, do you hate me that much?" Kiara muttered rubbing her nose as she walked in. She was feigning innocence, her voice cracked as she spoke, only someone how sly and cunning she was would doubt her.
Eva stared at her not a bit shocked, she knew her so well and she foresaw that.
"Kiara you had told me that the files were with Eva, why did you lie to me?" Mr Primes asked gazing at Kiara who was suddenly dumbfounded, her eyes fluttered, and she glanced away.
"I didn't lie," she muttered trying to sound as convincing as possible but her voice betrayed her as her words came out in stutters.
Mr Primes pursed his lips as he gazed at her, his brows furrowed into a frown, Kiara looked away avoiding eye contact.
"Don't you dare lie to me," he snapped.
Kiara gulped, she knew that was the end, she had been caught there was no point in lying. "I'm sorry Dad, the file is in my room, I'll go get it." She said turning around to leave.
"Stop right there," her Dad snarled, his words made her halt, she took a deep breath before turning to face him.
"How many times do I have to caution you? You were trying to frame Eva up right? Apologise to her right now."
Kiara glared at Eva, her jaw clenched in anger, she had no choice but to apologise, there was no way she was going to get away with this one.
"I'm sorry," she mouthed.
Eva nodded, " It's fine."
"Eva, I'm sorry about that. You may leave now." Mr Primes smiled.
Eva could feel the icy glare from Kiara, she cocked her eyes to look at her, her jaw clenched as she glared at her like she had taken her most priceless possession, Eva ignored her stares and walked out of the study.
