Death witness his fellow brothers and sisters in godhood did everything they want in the land of mortals even though it was strictly forbidden by the ancient gods. He visits the world of the mortals for a stroll after almost an eternity of guiding the souls to their proper destinations. There, he met a young man. Pure, and innocent. He had seen countless of different souls but this particular mortal is not as similar to those and more than anything, Death sees himself in that mortal. His visits in the mortal world become frequent that it no longer sits well with the other gods so they decided to deal with the mortal to stop Death. Little did they know that it is something that they would live to regret.
BAM! KABOOM!
The earth shook as the gods come together to defeat one enemy, a god just like themselves, the god of 'Death' known as Requiem who rebelled and even fought with the other gods all because of one soul that they took away from him.
KABOOM! URK!
"Stop this madness Requiem! Do you know what you have done?!" His elder brother, the god of gods exclaimed after Requiem sent him to kiss the very land that he governs. "Madness? Am I the madman now?! You!" He points out to all the other gods who is kneeling before his authority of death and glared at every single one of them. "You all took the single life, the only companion that I have ever since the beginning of time! I was alone and that human was there for me!"
One goddess tried to act while he is distracted but Requiem had seen that coming and so he put that goddess down using his might and restrained her after grasping her core. "Do not do that brother!" Aeros ordered but Requiem is so angry that a single tighten from his grips made the goddess fall to her knees and cry in pain. "Tell me. What did that human do to receive such punishment? True death cannot be given to him by humans nor all the living things in this world. Only gods can give that to humans. You took him from me, it is only right that I took something from you, am I right? Brother?"
His grip slowly tightens on the goddess' core and she started to wail from the pain that she is suffering. "Please, Requiem. Forgive me." She pleaded in pain. Requiem looks at her with nothing but death in his eyes, a dark and endless abyss, that is what she is seeing from him.
All the others were alarmed by his action and wants to restrain him but his older brother, Aero stops them in time before he can crush the goddess' heart and grant her eternal death. "If you act now, you will just hasten her death. Let me talk to him, one more time."
The other gods could not see anything wrong from his suggestion and since they could not even take down or even restrain Requiem when they are all ganging up on him, they agreed. "Where is Helos in times like this? Should he be here at such an important time like this?" Aeros looks at the other gods with a sad expression on his face, it is then that they figured from his expression that Helos had already tried confronting Requiem beforehand. "Helos lost, that is why we are the only ones here. The only ones that is capable of fighting Requiem." Those are the words that he needed to say to show them the reality that even with Requiem alone, the power of the gods capable of fighting is not enough against the power of the god that holds the authority of death.
"Please brother. Let us settle this in peace! We don't want to lose a goddess over this." Requiem gnashed his teeth over his own brother's words. "Hahaha~ so you want to brush it all off as something that would naturally happen if a mortal comes in contact with a god? The law that had been written in the skies?" Aeros' heart sunk as soon as he saw a tear falls from Requiem's eyes. "Tears? A god shedding tears for a mere mortal?" Requiem saw the reaction that his brother had when he cried, and it agitated him even more.
"Your face says 'a mere mortal'." Requiem lets go of the goddess' heart and pushed her away that made all the other gods relieve but the next thing he did took away all the relief that they felt a few moments ago. "Where were all of you when I was alone for almost an eternity. I was cast away in that dark place and rarely even see the light of the sun, I ruled the underworld in loneliness while all of you walked the earth and even breed your seeds to humans. I was doing my job without slacking off!"
They saw Requiem's complexion change as he says those words, his slow change in appearance made them feel something sinister. "Corruption. Brother! Corruption is eating you away!" Aeros screams as soon as he saw the signs but Requiem could not care less about what is going to happen to him and let the corruption consume him. "Now I understand why I have this power. The authority of death." He turns to his brother who finally realized that they took the only companion that his brother had after an eternity of loneliness.
"He was the only companion that I had after I got cast away in that lonely place. Big brother. I guess this is goodbye."
Corruption happens when a god is trying to break the rules that the ancient gods have already written in the skies. Which results to eternal slumber just as what happens to the mortals that broke the law of meeting with a god who is not even a champion of that god. "So this are the rules that I have broken. I realized that, we gods are not so different than the mere mortals that we are overseeing. We are more like watchers, destined to do something that we are created to do." Requiem thinks to himself as the corruption covers his entire body but Aeros interfered with the corruption and put everything to halt.
"If only we realized it sooner." He mutters to himself as he walk towards his dying brother. "So you are willing to take your life just to be with that mortal huh? You give up your godhood for a companion. This is a bit funny, this is the first time that you broke the law. One of the gods that did not disobey anything until now." Aeros shed tears at the mistake that he failed to see when he is supposed to see everything from above.
He pat his brother's head as he sobs while the corruption continues to corrupt Requiem. "You do know that will not save him right?" the god of wisdom appeared. "I know a way that would put everything back to normal." Aeros turns to him in shock. Being one of the oldest gods, the second generation after the ancient gods gave away their seat to the new generation gods, Irath is one of the oldest, the god of Wisdom.
"Don't tell me you are suggesting that we break the rules of the skies." Aeros figured. "That is the only way we can save your brother. It was all of your fault from the very beginning that lead to this moment. Helos was against what you are going to do to that mortal in the first place. The reason I remained neutral from the very beginning is because I already saw this coming and so as Helos did." Aero bit his lips on his blunder. "Is there really no other way without breaking the rules of the skies?" Irath shakes his head.
"How are we going to proceed?" Irath walk towards Aeros and points at Requiem. "We are going to perform something that is forbidden from the very beginning of time. We will make this world travel through time, the time before that mortal died, no- beyond that. At the time when Requiem and that mortal met." Irath suggested. "This will require a lot of my strength, please pour some unto me." Aeros and the other gods and goddesses lay their hands on Irath's head and poured some of their power onto him.
"Then I will perform time breaker."
CHOOM!
Time started to move backwards the moment Irath gestures with his hands and all around them changed. They saw all the things that happened in the mortal world. "This is what happened before the mortal had died." Irath mumbled as he also looks at the things that is happening before their eyes. "I guess you have seen everything for yourself Aeros." Irath felt a pain on his chest out of nowhere that ended up speeding the process back to the very beginning of everything, back to the time when Aeros's father, Arshem is still the god of gods.
The other gods and goddesses turns to look at Aeros. It turns out that he is the one responsible for that, he wanted to return to that time to make it up for his brother. "Aeros, is this what you have chosen?!" Irath and the others are just as shocked. "What have you done?" the Aeros in front of them starts to fade as he is not the god of gods at that time and got replaced by the Aeros that was still learning from his father for the ways of a good leader.
"This is the only thing I can think of to make it up to him. This time, I will make sure that he is not alone." They all started to disappear and appear before Arshem. "I don't think I need to ask what happened right?" his thundering voice traveled to the entire land of gods and summoned all the others who did not participate with them.
"I am very disappointed in you Irath. You are supposed to be the guide of the new god replacements yet you just watch them do these things." Arshem looks at the one responsible for everything, Requiem. "You tried to destroy the balance. Without the god of death overlooking the underworld, everything will be thrown into chaos, the concept of death will disappear along with you and the dead will eat away all the living beings on earth. Are you willing to kill the others just because of a single mortal?"
Requiem kneels before his father and did not deny his father's claims. "It was my first transgression ever since I was put in that place and yet I was not granted the one thing that I wanted. And the one that is supposed to know how I felt failed to do so when they have acted out as they please in the past. I speak of those who bred with the humans and empower the arkshems." Requiem looks at all of the gods and goddesses that had done something that made Arshem make a rule of them not having to meddle with mortal problems directly.
"Did you hear that Aeros? No- everyone of you? All the other ancient gods with me on the other side saw everything clearly, and none of you even remember Requiem, I also felt that that mortal alone was his companion after an eternity of being alone. I know how he felt because I was also in his place in the past so I will pardon him and put everything back to normal." He turns his attention to the other gods.
"I am somewhat happy that you brought me back here to correct things in Aeros' place. Look, we are back in the time where your sons and daughters are ruling over the world , you get to see them dying on the hands of the Arks yet again." He said as they watch all the things that are happening in the mortal world.

Elodie took a deep breath and knocked, the sound echoing in the quiet corridor. A moment of silence passed, broken only by the pounding of her heart. Finally, the door snicked open, revealing a surprised Dashiell. 'Can't you see the Do Not Disturb sign? We don't want-' His initial frown quickly morphed into confusion at the sight of his wife. 'What are you doing here?' he demanded. 'Your girlfriend invited me,' Elodie replied, her voice laced with icy calm. She tried to peer past him, but his broad frame blocked the view. A saccharine voice chimed in from within the room. 'Elodie? Oh dear, we didn't mean for you to find out this way. It's just that-' Elodie cut her short. 'Oh please, Selene. Spare me the fake apologies. You wouldn't have sent me all those texts if you didn't want me to know.' Dashiell shifted uncomfortably, his face a mask of annoyance. 'What texts?' Elodie stepped past him, taking in the luxurious suite with a sardonic smile. The king-sized bed, the scattered rose petals, the lingering scent of sex – it all painted a vivid picture of their betrayal. She looked up at Dashiell, her gaze unwavering.
