LEAN's POV
"Hey! What are you doing! Get off me you physco!" I yelled as I was trying to break free from a smelly old pervert who is trying to get in between my legs,
I'm currently on the ground of a street in the slums and this hobo who stinks of booze is on top of me, like that isn't enough, he's trying to get in between the legs of a fucking seventeen years old,
Out of annoyance, I punched him in the face but that didn't help at all, all it did was just make smelly hobo here, mad.
He was getting really rough on me,and I'm already loosing my edge, I screamed at the top of my voice but no one comes to rescue me,
Well, that's a given, judging by how late it is, it's like 12:00 am, the moon is clearly at the center of the sky, but down here in the slums, even the moon's light can't be seen brightly, in the midst of the thick fog of smoke, caused by cigarettes and the choking stench of alcohol.
"What a sore way to lose my freaking virginity," I thought even though I never really cared about chastity and stuff, seeing how the background I came from is just a load of shit,
It still sucks to lose it to some prevert who's drunk on God knows what.
I hiss as I was already losing the strength I had and could no longer hold him back, I had already stopped fighting against him.
But, just when I thought all hope was lost, I heard a 'crash' sound and the pervert fell on me, I cough out because he stinks even more now that he's on me,
Immediately, I use my fingers to plug my nose, then I raise my eyes to see the good samaritan who was around to save me at such an hour.
I could feel my eyes widen, the moment I saw her, my princess in shining armor, Stella.
Apparently, Stella smashed a beer bottle on the old fool's head and saved me from losing it to some drunkard.
Still saying though, if I'm gonna lose it, let it be to some handsome guy, or. A beautiful girl, as I thought, my eyes were still fixed on Stella, whose beauty is my only light in this darkness.
"What are you still laying there for, or do you need a hand," Stella said to me, with her low-toned voice, it is always soothing to the ear and I never get used to it, no matter how many times I've heard it. I guess it's what they call 'bedroom voice'.
As I moved the pervert off my body, Stella lowers her hand to pull me up, then I gripped her hand and pulled her on me, she screamed as she was falling,
"Hey, what was that for," she whines as she lifts her head to look at me, but all I could think about was how soft her boobs were.
Then I smirked at her and said "you are in no way feisty, neither are you stronger than me, but you wanna pull me up," I scoff.
Stella became embarrassed and she made herself so obvious by blushing, "Lena could you get your hand off my waist," Stella pouts
Although, to me she looks cute, but to she thinks she looks mad, I chuckle, but I still had my hand in her tiny waist while I sit up,
Then we stood up from the dirty ground together, that was when I let go of her waist,
"Lena, what are you doing outside by this time anyway?" Stella ask me and I can see concern written all over her eyes
"Well, you know the drill... My elder sister had some work with some rich dude, but she stayed out too late again... So dad sent me to go get her again" I replied her sounding like I was Wonder woman's kid
Stella's face becomes a little wary then she says,"by some work... You mean..." her voice was even lower than usual, like as if she was feeling guilty because she was gonna say something that would hurt my feeling,
I noticed it and it made mad, the as irrationally as I am,I help her complete her statement, "yeah, my sister had some prostitution job this night and when was gonna bring home a huge some of money. I just acted like the body guard"
Then I turned my head to my left side, where Stella was walking beside me and said to her with a serious tone,
"Stella we've been best friends since I was six and you know very well what my family business is, I don't give a fuck about it as long as money gets into My pocket... So I really don't get why you're acting all sullen for my sake"
Stella knows I wasn't really in a good mood after the stunt she just pulled, she opens her mouth like she wanted to say something but close it back after a second pause,
For some reason, I felt like she wanted to say sorry, but she changed her mind after a second's thought
She knows I despise the word 'sorry' although I haven't told her why and she didn't really ask,
"So, how did that guy get on top you, I mean you are so feisty. If you didn't have a pretty face with long hair, I'd think you're a boy" Stella continues, trying to change the topic
"Hahaha... That pervert was just too strong that's all, the booze he drank made him as strong as a collosal titan, like he literally felt like one" I laughed as I explained to her,
And she laughs as well. "Really, colossal titan? You watch way too much anime girl" Stella mentions
"And you watch no TV at all Star I smirked at her
Stella blushes, she likes it when I call her Star, but it only natural I call her that, her name is Stella and everybody Stella means star,
And it's ironic how she's actually the star light in my life, my only safe heaven, I thought as I stared at her beautiful pale face as she smiled so innocently.
"Ofcourse, her beauty isn't obvious to just me alone", just as I was thinking that Stella says
"you know that guy at school... yeah, the cute one, he asked of my number at recess period yesterday... I can't believe he did that".
Stella lets out a silent scream, she covers her mouth as she pivots herself to show that she was quite excited.
I'm her best friend, I know, I should be happy for her, but as I watch her embarrass herself over some guy asking for her number,
No, like seriously, she already started dancing around the gravel,
I can't help but feel a sting in my heart, it felt like something thing precious was taking from me,
"it hurts" I mutter underneath my breath, but it seems like she heard, beacusr after that, she turned het head to look at the, after he finally stopped moving on like a dry twig,
She looks at me with her big brown eyes, making the puppy face,
"Hey, what's wrong, you look like you are not happy for me" she asks, sounding a little dejected,
"Girl. I am deeply happy for you, don't t gimme those puppy eyes. Its bad for my heart" I said as a placed my hand on my chest,
"But you know, he just asked for your number right? I grin toward her, "its not like hw give you a diamond ring" I continued as I arm crossed her, "tell me Star, whatvare you embarassing me for? ", I scoff.
In less than a second, Stella recalls all the dancing she did, she knows she can't dance well, so her face turns red, she uses her hands to cover her face,
Stella becomes flusterd with embarrassment, I chuckle as I watch her try to hide her embarassment, there was no difference between her and a well grown tomato.
"Hey, but. If he asked for my phone number, it means he's intresed in me right" Stella said with her face looking like a confused kid,
"girl, there fantasy and there is reality and there is this line between them. And they don't ever meet, never" I said to Stella, looking so solemn as I was gesturing, like i was saying something important.
After hearing what I had said, Stella starts to sulk, she makes that face she normally does when she feels unimportant,
As I saw her, I start to feel guilty, and i know I spoke too much, I treated her like she was stupid. I'm mad at her,
Still, I have no right to be made at her. I decided I'm gonna apologize to her,
"I'm sor-" I was abruptly cut short as her light toned voice, overshadows mine, her words were; "Yeah. I know we have to be realistic, but that doesn't mean we have to be pessimistic."
Stella looks at me with her glimmering eyes, filled with hope and determination to convince me, "I won't be a pessimist Lena" she concluds.
I kept looking at her, I felt to different emotions, I was feeling pulled in at the same time I felt pushed out, by her eyes and words respectively.
I remove my gaze from her, let my head down and I grit my teeth, but before she could notice, I forced a smile on, then I raised my head and asked her;
"You must really like that boy right?"
I asked her but, I could feel my heart beating faster and faster, anxiously waiting for the answer,
I knew what the answer was, but I wanted to try being optimistic like Stella said, even if its kind of stupid.
After a while, she ended my anxiety, she answered; "Well. He's cute and I like cute boys... So, I guess I like him." She sounded unsure and she avoided my gaze,
"Hey, I'm pretty... Why won't you like me?" I became irrational, I know that question was out of context but, I'm still trying out the optimistic thing.
Stella looked at me in confusion, "what do you mean, you're my best friend. Ofcourse I like you, why would I hate my best friend... I mean who does that's, why would I even call you my best-"
Stella was rambling a lot of words, she became more flustered and disorganized with each word she said,
I stopped her before she could complete what she wanted to say, her eyes were roaming around, she looked everywhere, looked at everything except from me,
I didn't get why she did that, but it was getting me pieced.
"Stella. Star, I'm right here, I'm in front of you, why won't you look at me" I could hear my voice shaking, I was sad, it felt like my heart was about to fall from my chest,
I didn't have to give it a second thought, I know what I just said meant a lot more that how I intended. But who cares, I already said it .
Then I lifted my sore eyes to look at Stella, I was being so obvious, but the look I saw in Stella's eyes, I will never forget.
She Looked at me with disgust, as she narrowed her eyes and squeezed her finely shaped, straight eyebrows, with blunt arc at each of its edge,
"Lena. be real... I'm gonna pretend like I didn't hear what you just said, in fact I don't this conversation, didn't happen" Stella said, her voice sounded cold, it sounded firm. It didn't sound like the stella I've known for six years.
I could hear my heart cracking, I could feel my eyes starting to swell, I knew the were gonna turn red soon, but I can't exactly see that,
I didn't want Stella to see that, so I removed my gaze from her face and fell my head,
"Stella, how can you so cru-"
"STELLA SMITH, WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING OUT, THIS LATE, YOU GET BACK IN HERE AT ONCE!!"
I couldn't complete my statement, I was almost sure she didn't here me,
That's because, her grandfather's bellow out-sounded my low volumed voice, and I couldn't finish my sentence and I no longer had Stella's attention the second he grandfather called out her name.
She turned her head back to face me, after she had answered her grandfather, she looked at me with pity and it made me feel small and I hated it.
"Well, Lena. I came out for you, I heard you scream and I came to see what was up. Now, you're safe, its late and it too late to be outside, especially in this area... You should go home too"
Stella turned her back to me the moment she completed her statement and ran towards her grandfather,
As I watched her from the back, her brow short hair and slim hour glass shape body, started to disappear into the fog of smoke I thought,
"so much for being optimistic... What would it take for me to see you the way I see you Star. My Star"
