CHAPTER 1
CHARLIE POV
San Francisco,16th September 2014!
"run charlie run!! don't stop!!" the unknown feminine voice keep yelling in my head as I ran with all my strength! it's coming to get me again, it's closer, it's nearer, it wanna eat me up!
"run left!" I took the left turn, "turn right!" I turned right, running different paths I came across in the dark wood.
My heart was pounding heavily, it was obvious I was scared to death. The beast is getting closer; red fire eyes, three big horns, two-tailed tails, and teeth like fangs! long claws and two heads!! It's getting closer. I'm weakening, I tried increasing my pace!
A fierce wind from no direction lifted me knocking me over a big tree.
"ahh!!" I cried out
"stand up! run don't stop!!" the feminine voice came again as I tried standing up, I grunted, my head oozed out blood. My head felt like exploding while my body filled with pains, it was so unbearable.
I stood up with a groan, holding the tree for support. "No...I can't anymore, I'm tired!" I wailed as I tried running again but I fell to the ground, tears falling freely from my eyes, I spat out something which tasted metallic, blood!.
Huh?!! I looked up quickly as I saw the beast In front of me, it gave a piercing roar as it moved towards me while I shifted back, trembling frightfully. Not again!, I cried out as it got to me and raised its claw to attack me while I gave out a loud screamed
"no oooooh!!!"
"No!!" I yelled, jerking up from the nightmare I just had, breathing heavily, trying to catch my breath, I clutched my head with both hands as I tried suppressing the pains in my head. the same dream I keep having since twenty-one years ago. And I don't seem to understand why I keep having these same dreams
"Charlie!!"
The door plunged open, revealing green, my elder sister, she bolted the door as she rushed towards me on the bed with a worried face.
"Hey! Calm down okay!! I'm here now" She said hugging me while I sob silently.
"same nightmare right?" she asked while I nodded slowly as she gave a deep sigh.
"I really don't know what to say Charlie but just know I'm here for you now, okay? " I nodded again, my throat strangely seemed to be blocked by something
She stood up as she dressed the bed properly, she laid me well on the bed and laid beside me as she cuddle me in her arms. I was scared to close my eyes, I was scared of having the same dream again, it was too scary.
"Green!! Charlie!! girls I'm home!!!" Mrs Gwen, Charlie's mum yelled as Charlie and green ran downstairs and rushed towards her, giving her a huge hug
"You girls still sleeping by this time huh?!!" Mrs Gwen said, feigning a frown as they disentangled.
"mum we were tired, and we kind of slept late" green replied as she turned, walking towards the kitchen while Charlie trailed behind her holding the groceries her mum bought.
"How was your trip mum?" Charlie asked dropping the items on the kitchen table.
"It was was great! well spent!!" Mrs Gwen replied walking into the kitchen, towards the fridge to get a juice.
"Hmm, glad to hear that" Charlie replied with smiles staring at her mother. Her mother was a beautiful woman she thought, she'd say she looked like her mother but how she got her red hair is still strange!
" mum I'm thinking of dying my hair," she said pouting, green and Mrs Gwen shot her a stare.
"Why?" Green asked shrugging.
"Nothing just felt like changing the colour" Charlie replied playing with her fingers
" this red hair kind of makes me feel weird" Charlie added staring at her mother.
"Charlie baby, your red hair looks stunning, it's kind of makes you look different as well. So don't feel weird or anything okay, " Mrs Gwen said as she dropped the glass of juice on the kitchen table and turned to leave while green and Charlie ambled behind her.
"Okay then, fine!" Charlie replied as she walked towards the sofa to sit beside Mrs Gwen.
"When are you leaving for college?" Green asked as she walked over to the TV to power it on.
"Um tomorrow mum"
"Tomorrow?!!" green and Mrs Gwen exclaimed as they shot Charlie a surprised stare
"What?!" Charlie shrug with a smile.
" you never told us you're leaving that soon huh!" Green yelled feigning anger
"I'm sorry sis, mum." Charlie apologized.
Mrs Gwen signed as she buried her head in her palms. " what mum?." Charlie asked with a worried look, she's worried over her mum's sudden mood swing.
" I'm just scared" Mrs Gwen replied as she raised her head, staring at Charlie
"Uh mum, why?" Green asked shrugging, Mrs. Gwen was silent for a while
"I'm scared she might go out of control again," Mrs Gwen said lowly as Charlie stood up in rage clutching her fists.
"Really mum??" Charlie said scoffing
"I'm not a kid mum for goodness sake!" she yelled staring at Mrs Gwen
" I can take care of myself! Don't make me feel like I'm a monster or something!" She added in gritted teeth
" Charlie calm down okay, mum doesn't mean it that way!" Green said half yelling, she knew how easily Charlie gets angry and get out of control.
"you know what?!. I wanna be alone!!" With said that Charlie ran upstairs to her room.
"Mum don't worry, I will talk to her okay," green said as she ran after Charlie, Mrs. Gwen heavied a sign sadly.
Fuck!! I growled, clutching my fists, I'm getting angry and it's making me go crazy right now. My whole body felt like it's burning like a furnace. Oh no, not again!
I gritted with anger trying to control my emotions, I know what's gonna happen next, and I'm trying my whole best to avoid that. But it seemed always impossible! Shit!!
"Charlie!" Green yelled barging into the room, while I ignored her as I paced around the room.
"You shouldn't have talked to mum that way, you know well she cares about you, that's why she's worried!"
"I don't care!" I roared, green flinched as she stepped back with a frightful look, this is it! I know she now sees the monster in me.
"Charlie you need to calm down, you're getting out of control" I heard Gwen say but I was already getting out of control, it felt like something was trying to break free from my body. It also seemed like my inner self is being locked in a room and caged down!
"Just go away!!!" I yelled loudly, fire emitting out of my body, burning like a furnace as it spread across the room setting it on fire. Omg!! Not again!!!
"Charlie let's go now!!" Green tells me as she coughed, the fire was already spreading towards the downstairs, I was numbed, I tried moving but I felt glued.
"Charlie!!" I heard mum screamed, but I still stood while the fire kept burning, my whole body was on fire but I wasn't burnt or hurt at all.
I have always tried to control my powers, I have always tried to control my emotions, I have tried everything possible!! Why was I born this way!!!.
I'm a monster!! I stood numbed as I kept hearing green and mum's screaming and coughing. The whole house was already on fire.
My eyes suddenly got blurry as I fell to my knees, and my head pounding loudly as I fell to the floor, my eyes closed in darkness.
