Faith's pov
Saturday mornings are always the most stressful mornings for me. I have to clean the house and do other house chores. I work at a company that overworks their employees. Most time I get home really late and I am already tired. The pay isn't very attractive but it's difficult getting a new job, that is why I am still managing that one till a new and better one comes around.
I woke up at 10 am, did my laundry that has been piled up for a week now. I washed the few dishes that I used last night. I then proceeded to clean my room and the Sitting room. My house isn't that big since I live alone and it's barely dirty since I am not always at home but I still have to clean it. After I was done cleaning, I went to the kitchen to reheat the remaining pizza from last night.
After bathing, I dressed up and watched TV. I had no plans for today. I checked my phone, there was no messages or calls from anyone. I am not really surprised because I don't even have close friends that I communicate with regularly. I only chat with my colleagues when it is is necessary. In other words, I live a very boring life. I decided to call my parents. It's been a while I heard from them. I dialled my mum's number but it wasn't connecting, so I decided to call my dad.
"Hello swiddy", I heard my dad cheerful voice over the phone.
"Hi dad, how are you doing".
"I am fine dear, how is work".
"Work is fine, how is mum, I tried calling her but her number wasn't going through".
"Your mum is fine, she lost her purse containing her phone yesterday and she is yet to get a new one".
"That's sad"
Honey, Faith is on the phone.... I heard my dad say at the other end of the line and soon I heard footsteps.
"My baby girl"
"Hi mum, hope you are good and how did you lose your purse".
"I am good, I lost my purse in the mall, don't know how and when it fell, hope work isn't stressing you too much"
"It's stressing me but I am fine tho"
"Are you having time for yourself, you haven't introduced anyone to us for a while now"
"Mum, not this topic again, I haven't introduced anyone because there is no one to introduce".
"That's not a problem, my friend's son will be in the city next week, I would love it if the two of you could meet up and get to know each other"
"I am not going on anymore blind dates, those things irritate me"
"He is a nice guy, you would like him. Just give him a chance. Your father and I aren't getting any younger. We want to see you happily settled with a family of your own".
"Alright mum, I have heard you, I would go just so you would be happy".
"Thanks my darling, try and enjoy yourself and don't just do it because of us, I will send you his details soon".
"No problem, I love you, bye mum, bye dad"
"Take care of yourself sweetheart, we love you too".
I ended the call, most times I don't like calling my parents especially my mum because she is always disturbing me about settling down. I am just 25 and I don't think I am too old yet but to my mum, that is more than old enough. She has linked me up with so many blind dates and most times, it is a disaster. One certain time, she even set up a date for me with someone who turned out to be gay. Just to avoid her unnecessary talks is the reason I agreed to go.
The day is almost over and I really did not do anything worth while today. I decided to still send out some applications for job openings, praying and hoping that I get a call back because I could really use a new job right now. I went into the kitchen to make dinner. I decided to make spaghetti because I am to lazy to cook any thing stressful. I think I should give that date a chance just to spice up my life because it is getting really boring. I don't need a relationship tho but I could just use that for the purpose of pure entertainment. I get a text on my phone and my mum has already sent the number. She says he would be here on Monday evening, he also has my number and he would get in touch with me before he gets here. She also reminded me to keep an open mind and enjoy myself.
I replied with a thanks mum and a love emoji. Had my dinner, showered and went to bed. Hopefully tomorrow would be better.
